Happy Thanksgiving!

Meanwhile, here's some unrelated art work
Happy Thanksgiving guys! Time to stuff your face with turkey and cranberry sauce :D

First of all, I'm very thankful since everything starts to go better recently. My niece was just born today, my arms feel better, and final film is progressing. Thank you for family and friends who always be there for me through my hard times and thank you for your support too, I can't do it without you guys.
So what are you thankful for today? :)

The work at the top is based of a life drawing sketch I did in class. Drawing is so much fun. I hope you guys enjoy it. Have a great thanksgiving!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS)

Hi guys,
I apologize for not being here for few weeks already. I felt a strong pain around my wrist and tingly feeling on the tips of my finger. The pain went up to my arm so decided to see the doctor.
I'm in a treatment now but I wont be able to draw for a while, probably until august.

So what is carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) anyway?
Its basically a condition where you feel pain in your hand and wrist because the nerve inside your wrist's carpal tunnel got swollen or damaged. So when you overused your hands with repetitive activities like typing in keyboard, texting, drawing, trackpad-ing (I list it because this one is pretty evil, so get a mouse or pen),
Please value your hands and arms. Don't overuse it.

What a Catch! (Story and Concept work)

I was developing a story for my final thesis film based of my pet fishes romance story. It was my 4th idea out of 10 ideas that I have so far. "What a catch" actually made it pretty far (even though in the end I'm going with another idea).
Why fishes? I love fish.
My oldest fish was Fishie, who died a month ago in the age of 3. I got him as a christmas present from my best friend, Janice, and he's been a great addition to my life.
Bubu is a female fish I got a year ago, for breeding purpose. In the end they didn't breed, too much story to explain. Haha. Anway here's some concept works :)

Anyway, I'm developing a new idea and still working on it. :)

Fashion Toronto

People can go to work and be fashionable at the same time,
here's the one of my favorite I saw on subway today. :)

I love mondays, and you should too!

things I saw happen in park :)
"Ugh it's Monday again", that's what we normally have in mind. I know that because I do feel that sometimes too. But you know what, that negativity is definitely not a good way to start your week.

So~ I tried to came up with a solution. Every other day I always have this routine of sitting in the same seat in Subway, walking through this particular route to work, eating this certain food. So I tried to make Monday a little special.
I stand or seat in a totally different place, I take a different route to work, I spoil my self with new foods (just found out this nice cafe with fancy coconut drink nearby! :) ) and I observe more on Monday. See little good things around in life. Believe me these small things actually does makes your day a little more special. So go! try something new in life and enjoy your Monday!

Anastasia

Hey guys, I started this habit to start my day by sketching just anything that I like. Since I like drawing girls and fashion, so you will see them pretty often around. Don't worry I draw other things too.

So I just want to bring up this person, Anastasia Siantar. She is a well known fashion blogger and she's also from Indonesia. I love her fashion a lot and it does inspire my drawings.
Such an inspiration.
Check out her web: http://www.brownplatform.com/

Rosedale

Hey guys! I was walking around Toronto yesterday, and my friend, Janice told me about a great food around Rosedale area, so I did go there. Rosedale area was unexpectedly great. There's nice parks and especially, people with dogs! I don't  know what's up but there were so many people walking dogs yesterday. Insane! I couldn't resist to just sketch around. :)

Torontooo

... is awesome!!! I'm pretty sure I mention that I moved to Toronto two weeks ago because of my intern. and it's a load of fun! There's a lot of fun things going on in Toronto for you to do.
Let's start with...

How much is it?
Only with $3, you can ride anywhere you want! Bless Canada for this TTC system. So stay inside, sit down, bring you sketchbook or if you're that high tech gadget person, sure, bring your iPad and draw! Even better, getting a monthly pass for TTC means unlimited ride.

Is it hard?
Sitting down, taking out your sketchbook and start drawing people doesn't sound too hard right? Unless you're this very very shy person who's afraid of getting accused of drawing people. Yes it gets really hard in rush hour to the point you can even stand still without getting push or almost falling down. But yeah! Give it a go!

How much is it?
Attention Book and film lovers! BMV has good deals for good books. I have nothing much to say, just ... just... just go! There's some stores in Toronto, but the biggest one is probably near Spadina TTC with 3 floor of awesomeness. Labyrinth is basically across the street. It has the same thing but more expensive. I'm half joking, they have good art books that is hard to find.

Is it hard?
Uuum.. no, not really, you just find books that you like and pay the money. Simple as it is. Although BMV doesn't have data base so you have to actually find the book you want yourself in within the many many books, but its worth it.

Annnnd there is also food, shopping district, library and too much more...
Toronto is awesome!

Sketches! (as promised)

Yes, don't worry. I do remember my promise to put something that's art.
Okay, I threw away most of my drawing away, especially when their size is enormous like life drawing newsprint.

see? I told you they're huge! (random Sheridan stockphoto I found online)
Anyway I do miss drawing big. It's summer time, there's no more class, so there's no more big paper. It's not like I'm gonna bring that huge paper around in subway or cafes. Yeah, its pretty hard to sketch people in subway without them staring creepily back at you. But then again I might seems like a creeper myself.

"Just keep doing what you're doing, I'm totally not drawing you"

Oh right! Here's some surviving sketches I still have...

soft pastel, 5 min

soft pastel, 5 min
soft pastel, 3

soft pastel, 1 min
conte, 3 min
soft pastel, 2 min
soft pastel, 2 min

conte, 3 min
conte, 5 min

conte, 10 min

doodle drawn in left hand.

They say its good to try drawing with your opposite drawing hand so that you focus on making the right pose other than getting distracted by other things. I was totally focused on trying to hold the conte properly. Yeah man that was so hard :p You should totally try it for fun, might help~!
