TORONTO - ABU DHABI - JAKARTA, 31 March 2021 blog

I was planning to record some v-logs to share my COVID-19 international travel information but in reality, my hand was full of my luggage, food, and duty free item. Anyway, hope some of this information can be helpful to you and let me take you along my journey today!

Departing from Toronto Pearson airport (YYZ)

My flight is at Terminal 3 and most of the entrance doors to the airport are closed and they kept 1 main gate open, just keep driving until you found that main door. I was so blessed to have my Tante drove me to the airport and also it was pretty empty so our car can park in the drop off area instead of being constantly shooed away. There's plenty of free carts to help you carry your luggage.

Toronto Pearson - Checking in

My flight was with Etihad, I arrived 3 hours early and there wasn't too long of a line. One of worker checked the PCR Result (please have it printed) and you will be allowed to line up to check in/drop your luggages. Nothing really changes in terms of checking in, the worker told be I don't have to wear face shield because mask is more than enough, he also mentioned that there's some passengers with hazmat suits today and he found that hilarious!

Toronto Pearson - Entering the Gate

As I checked in my bag and got my boarding passes, I proceed to the immigration area. There are more steps than usual. 1. PCR Result Check 2. Temperature Check, you will be standing in front of this machine while looking up 3. Security Check, same good old procedure.

Toronto Pearson - Waiting Area

There were very few stores open at the time such as the Duty Free, Relay (convenient store), Tim Horton, Booster Juice, couple other restaurants, but Starbucks is closed :(( There are some seating area to eat so you can find some chair and table as you wait to board. I brought hand sanitizer (min 70% to kill COVID-19 virus) and anti bacterial wipes to wipe every surface before I touched them. I know I'm being overly cautious now but hey, nothing wrong with being overly prepared :p

Drinking Fountain is closed but water refill station is available if you bring a water bottle ready for maximum hydration level in the flight. I proudly filled my newly gifted 1 L water bottle to found out I  accidentally left in the washroom as my plane took off, I'm sorry Tante :(

Boarding the plane

Etihad is fantastic with their boarding procedure to call row-by row although as people line up, there wasn't too much physical distancing happening but its alright. Inside the plane, I was greeted with flight attendant with full on protection gear. There is a rule of 1 seat apart being (diterapkan) so I feel more safe in the end, my seat mate had asked to move to a different row so we both can get all 3 seats for ourselves :D

On the flight

Etihad gave lots of freebies which I love (who doesn't love freebies?). It has 1 set of face mask, hand sanitizer, and pair of gloves; 1 set of sleeping mask, ear plug, toothbrush, toothpaste, and earphone for the 12 hour flight, they only give face mask, hand sanitizer, and pair of gloves kit for the 8 hours flight.

In flight meal, they provided 3 meals for the 12 hours flight and 2 meals for the 8 hours flight.

Food is good, I was satiated, I couldn't even finish the whole thing.

Washroom: its clean, they provided has some women's pads.

Lighting I know it's random, but I have to say ETIHAD light dims in and out so nicely. I like!

Abu Dhabi Transiting
I had an 8 hours transit in Abu Dhabi and I was surprised to find all the stores are open in this airport so I can go around and do my window shopping,
If you want, etihad also has some lounges available.

"hi"

Abu Dhabi airport water station is closed, there are vending machines available as well if you need snacks or drinks

Why is the photo I took so bad LOL

In the Etihad Lounge you can take shower, which is a mood booster for a long hour flight. There's also food and drinks available!

On the flight to Jakarta, it was very busy so I have to step up my game on the health protocols.

For WNI the government is providing a free accomodation at Wisma Pademangan (you have to share the unit with 3 other people) or when full the they will send you to a 2 or 3 star hotel. If you want to pick your own hotel at your own cost, list is available online, you can book ahead of times or will be some hotel booths at the airport with  their special hotel packages, from 3 - 5 stars hotels, it's your pick.
I picked mine at Sahid Serpong, I enjoyed my stay so far!
